What: A day of hiking to raise funds to benefit the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (Melanoma and Soft Tissue Oncology Program)
Why: In 2008, Tim Biesiadecki was diagnosed with melanoma, and over the next several years the cancer spread to other organs in his body. Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States, and the rates of skin cancer have increased in recent decades; it is estimated that there will be about 87,110 new cases of melanoma, the deadliest of all skin cancers, in this country in 2017.
Tim has decided to start a personal fundraising campaign to give back to the hospital, doctors, nurses, and staff that have been so crucial to his battle and recovery. To learn more about Tim’s story click here.
Where: Baldpate Mountain (two separate entrances to access the mountain trails; one is off of Fiddler’s Creek Road, Hopewell Township, NJ, and the other is off Pleasant Valley Road. Both Fiddler’s Creek Road and Pleasant Valley Road can be accessed from Route 29/River Road in New Jersey).
When: October 6, 2018 (rain or shine)
Time: This year’s hike will kick off at 9:00 am sharp. Participants are asked to gather before 9:00 am at either the Fiddlers Creek Road parking lot / trail head, or the Pleasant Valley Road parking lot / trail head. We will have a welcome table and tent at each of the entrances to the mountain trails. At 9:00 am, we’ll all set off together for a great hike up and around Baldpate Mountain.
